Mini Fiesta Summer 2016 Reading List

I remember in elementary school; at the end of the school year we would get a Summer reading list to complete. If we read the books and wrote a short summary on each book, once we return to school in August we would receive a prize. Yes, I was that student that looked forward to reading in class. I would see where I was suppose to read and rehearse before it was my time to come.

Fast forward a couple of years to when I was in middle school or maybe it was junior high. I was still fascinated with the books maybe a little bit more. I would read while the teacher was teaching, at lunch, at the bus stop, and while I was in bed. I loved a good book, still do. Books can take you away from reality and the problems or stress that you may have. While reading you are placed in the book as one of the characters, you see vivid details, you can smell what they smell and feel how they feel. Books are awesome.

My love for reading continued all the way through high school, where my cousin and I would trade books, read’em, and have sleepovers to discuss the books. We would read my aunties books because she was a reader as well and we were broke. Now that I think about it my mom and both of my aunts loved reading, that maybe where I got it from. Sometimes they didn’t like us reading they’re books because they were too graphic or considered “nasty books”.

While in undergrad I did a little reading over summer break and holidays (I wish I did more). Now that I’m getting my Master’s “I have a little time” (LOL) to read.

I’ve decided to do a summer reading list to get back into the swing of things. The books I wanted to read were geared towards self-love, being confident in yourself and being your own GIRL BOSS. Some of the books I’ve decided to read are:
